La bande originale de Timgad rayonne de toute l’espièglerie et la bonne humeur de la comédie sociale humaniste de Fabrice Benchaouche, saluée par le public. Son thème enivrant, que l’on retrouve décliné ici sous plusieurs formes, imprime les esprits par sa force. Ludovic Beier (Prix Sacem Francis Baxter en 2007) parcourt le monde et les collaborations prestigieuses (Sanséverino, Thomas Dutronc, Toots Thielemans, Angelo Debarre,…) et nous montre combien il est un compositeur et arrangeur rare. Il donne ici une touche « monde » à cette B.O. qui emprunte autant aux musiques arabo-andalouses et au jazz qu’aux musiques latines. Enfin, la présence d’un orchestre à cordes donne une épaisseur et un groove qui fait écho aux grandes musiques de film des années 1960 et 1970, de Claude Bolling, Vladimir Cosma et Lalo Schifrin. The original soundtrack of Timgad shines with all the mischief and good humour present in Fabrice Benchaouche’s much-praised humanist social comedy. Its intoxicating theme can be found here in several different forms, all of them striking. Ludovic Beier (winner of the 2007 Francis Baxter Award from French Rights’ Society SACEM), explores this universe and its prestigious associates — Sanseverino, Thomas Dutronc, Toots Thielemans, Angelo Debarre and others — and proves how rare a composer and arranger he is. He adds a «world music» touch to this soundtrack, borrowing not only from the sounds of the Middle East and Andalusia, but also from jazz and Latin music, while the presence of a string orchestra provides a density and groove that echo the great fi lm scores of the 60s and 70s, especially the music of Claude Bolling, Vladimir Cosma and Lalo Schifrin.
