Paru initialement en 2015, le triple album « Circulo de la noche » est un recueil fondamental. Il a d’abord fallu à Raphaël Faÿs étudier pendant 4 ans le fond de l’âme de cette musique pour définir les courants fondamentaux qui allaient parcourir l’expression artistique de cet enregistrement. Il rend compte de toute la diversité du répertoire et y apporte brillamment sa touche artistique, notamment avec sa technique particulière d’attaque des cordes au médiator, mais également en choisissant une instrumentation à géométrie variable, enchainant des passages tantôt solos, tantôt orchestraux. Il rend hommage à son ami, Paco de Lucia, et s’inscrit dans la même démarche de mise en valeur du patrimoine. Enfin, passé par le swing manouche et le classique, Raphaël Faÿs est parmi les plus grands guitaristes actuels, il montre ici la plus formidable ébauche de son travail passionné et de sa vocation de passeur d’émotions. Initially released in 2015, the triple album Circulo de la noche was a fundamental corpus: it took four years for Raphaël Faÿs to study the depths of this music’s soul before he could define the basic currents that flow through the artistic expressions in this recording. Here he would recount all the diversity that lies in this material, and brilliantly add his own artistic touches, which you hear notably in the special way he attacks the strings using a pick, but also in the instrumentation, with a choice that varies in geometry and links solo passages with others that are orchestral. In paying tribute to his friend Paco de Lucia, he became part of the same approach that adds value to a national heritage. Raphaël Faÿs has also explored gypsy swing and classical music, and belongs to the great contemporary guitarists; here he provides the most wonderfully absorbing display of his vocation, which is to convey emotions.
