Enfant star au destin tragique, chanteuse, danseuse et actrice aux talents aussi variés qu’incroyables, Judy Garland est sans doute la première star moderne de la pop internationale. Ce live est enregistré avec un orchestre philarmonique et regroupe en bonus, des enregistrements de décembre 1960 au Tuschinski Theater d’Amsterdam. La grande vedette américaine, immortalisée par son célèbre rôle de Dorothy dans Le Magicien d’Oz est, en 1960, au firmament de sa carrière de chanteuse. Elle interprète notamment son tube « Over the Rainbow » qui la rendit mondialement célèbre.

La collection Live in Paris, dirigée par Michel Brillié, permet de retrouver des enregistrements inédits (concerts, sessions privées ou radiophoniques), des grandes vedettes du jazz, du rock & roll et de la chanson du XXe siècle. Ces prises de son live, et la relation avec le public, apportent un supplément d’âme et une sensibilité en contrepoint de la rigueur appliquée lors des enregistrements studios. Une importance singulière a été apportée à la restauration sonore des bandes, pour convenir aux standards CD tout en conservant la couleur d’époque.

A child star with a tragic destiny, a singer, dancer and actress with talents as different as they were unbelievable, Garland was no doubt the first modern star of international pop. This live album contains recordings made with a philharmonic orchestra and as a bonus a concert at Amsterdam’s Tuschinski Theatre in December 1960. Garland, the great American star, was made immortal by her famous role as Dorothy in The Wizard Of Oz, and she was then in the firmament of her career as a singer. And here you can find her period version of the smash hit «Over the Rainbow,” which made her world-famous.

The Live in Paris collection by Michel Brillié allows listeners to hear previously-unreleased recordings (made at concerts and private- or radio-sessions) by the great 20th stars in jazz, rock & roll and song. These “live” takes, and the artists’ rapport with their audiences, gives these performances an additional soul and sensibility in counterpoint to the rigorous demands of studio recordings. Particular care was taken when restoring the sound of these tapes in order to meet CD standards while preserving the original colours of the period.
