Les Choeurs de l’Armée Rouge interprètent des chants de Noël occidentaux et orthodoxes. L’auditeur qui s’apprête à écouter ces enregistrements pour la première fois, appréhende probablement le moment avec dérision, ou un certain décalage, pour ce disque, qui est typiquement un « concept album » issu des riches heures de ce que l’on appelait alors la variété internationale. Cependant, force est de constater que la rigueur et le son d’ensemble des qualités vocales du Choeur, combinés ici à un sens unique des arrangements, rappellent avec quelle maestria était conduite cette grande vitrine artistique de l’époque soviétique.
