JAZZ AROUND THE KRACH - 1929

Ce n’est pas sans humour que Frémeaux & Associés rend hommage, 80 ans après, à la crise économique et financière de 1929 qui trouve un certain écho dans l’actualité internationale... 1929 : cette date est restée dans l’histoire et notre mémoire collective comme l’année du Krach de Wall Street et du début de la grande dépression.
La crise est un processus révolutionnaire inhérent au capitalisme permettant, de manière cyclique, un réajustement des habitudes, des cultures, des dogmes, etc.
Les arts n’échappent pas à ces remises en cause et ont bien dû s’adapter à cette grande dépression à grand renfort de jazz et de blues : besoin de donner du sens, mais également trouver des formes de financement, des producteurs et, naturellement, des auditeurs !
Noël Hervé, Philippe Baudoin et Daniel Nevers reviennent sur l’année 1929 : Jazz around the Krach.

It is not without a certain sense of irony that Frémeaux & Associés, 80 years on, renders homage to the 1929 economic crisis that has its echoes in today’s international events.
While 1929 saw the birth of Martin Luther King, Milan Kundera and Jacques Brel, each of whom influenced their era and achieved international acclaim, history and people themselves remember 1929 as the year of the Wall Street Crash and the beginning of the Depression.
Such a crisis that reoccurs regularly within capitalist societies is a revolutionary means of changing things, habits and culture etc. Neither are the artsimmune to these “readjustments” but had to adapt to the Depression: not only a need to make sense of it all but also to find financial backing, producers and, of course, listeners!
